He was the German archeologist who found the Die Gefallenen
(the Book of Zuriel) in the ruins of a 4th Century Christian
Monastery in the Syrian desert during the summer of 1932.
He was member of the Nazi group known as the Ahnenerbe, and
through the help of Nazi code breakers and the use of an enigma
machine was able to develop a translation matrix for the text's language he called
"Muttersprache” or the mother language.
Unfortunately, through a tragic experiment developed from the
translations of the text he was reported to have died sometime
in 1936.
